SHIPPING:

Because of weight limitations with the Letter Mail service, uninsured Letter Mail shipments over 4 lbs. (64 oz.) will be automatically upgraded to uninsured Parcel Mail.

INSURANCE:

If you choose an international shipping method marked (insured), insurance will automatically be added to your total charge. Insurance for all countries outside of the USA starts at $2.60 for the first $100, with each additional $100 costing $1 to insure. Please be aware that it is not possible to insure any shipments to Mexico and certain other countries in Latin and South America.

Example: Sergio Garcia from Spain orders coins for $347, with a shipping charge of $14.95 for insured air parcel mail. The insurance charge added to his order will be $5.60 for $400 worth of insurance. Insurance is not calculated on postage.

US Orders of more than $300 are automatically insured at our cost. If you would like to insure a shipment within the USA that is valued at less than $300, please send an e-mail to office@scandmint.com. Insurance for orders sent within the USA starts at $2.10 for the first $100, with each additional $100 costing $1 to insure.

MISSING SHIPMENTS/FAILED DELIVERY:

Royal Scandinavian Mint (RSM) currently ships approx. 3,000 packages annually within the USA and to countries all over the world, and uses USPS as its insurance provider.

For US shipments, Priority Mail has proved itself to be a very reliable service with only 1 missing shipment in 3 years of business. As all US shipments get a delivery confirmation that gets scanned both at delivery to the post office and to the customer, we are confident that this service fits our customer's needs. If you have a mailbox that is unprotected, where the shipment will wait until collected, you might want to arrange to have someone pick up the shipment for you or have the item mailed to a post office box.

According to the USPS, international shipments have a delivery failure of only 1%, with 92% of packages being delivered on-time. Regrettably, international shipments have to pass through customs checkpoints that sometimes delay delivery of your order for days and sometimes even weeks. Please know that neither RSM nor USPS - or any other postal service - is responsible for local customs procedures and processes, and therefore cannot be held responsible for delays occurred outside of the postal delivery chain.

If a shipment should not be delivered within 30 days of its shipping date (60 days for international shipments), RSM will file an inquiry with USPS Claims and Inquiries Department on your behalf. Responses from this department take at least 60 days to process as they have to trace the entire chain of delivery from country-to-country, and post office-to-post office. Therefore, if your shipment should go missing, it can take as much as 6-12 months to clear the matter up.

DOMESTIC INSURANCE CLAIMS

The following are the steps RSM performs on your behalf if initiation of a domestic insurance claim becomes necessary.

1. 30 days after the shipping date (the date stamped on the insurance receipt), RSM will file PS Form 1000 (Domestic Claim or Registered Mail Inquiry) with the USPS Domestic Claims Department. This form is forwarded to all post offices and postal installments in the delivery chain for comment and reply - all the way to your local post office, if necessary.

2. When a response is received from the destination post office, the USPS Domestic Claims Department. In order to do this, RSM will need the following information from you as the addressee as proof of loss: A signed letter or statement from you as the addressee - dated at least 30 days after the date the article was mailed - stating that you did not receive the article, as well as a statement from your Post Office indicating that a delivery record is not on file.

3. If the insurance claim is accepted, the USPS estimates that the claim will be paid by them in approximately 30 days.

INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE CLAIMS

2. When a response is received from the country of destination, the USPS International Claims Department sends RSM information regarding their findings, along with instructions on how to proceed with the insurance claim.

3. If the insurance claim is allowed to proceed, RSM files PS Form 2855 with the USPS International Claims Department on your behalf. In order to do this, RSM will need the following information from you as the addressee as proof of loss: A letter or statement from the addressee - dated at least 60 days after the date the article was mailed - stating that you did not receive the article, as well as a statement from the addressee's Post Office indicating that a delivery record is not on file.
