POSTAGE CHANGES MAY 14
On May 14, the US Postal service changed from pure weight-based rates to
rates that are a mix of shape and weight. Even though RSM did not increase
its postage in January 2006, we are now pressed to increase the flat-rate
charge to $6.50 for the 50 US states, DC and Puerto Rico. This rate is
constant and does not change if more items are added to the order.

Internationally, the small flat-rate Global Priority Mail (now called
Priority Mail International) envelope is gone, but the large envelope will
be available to more countries at a charge of $10 to Canada and $12 to any
other country. There will also be a large Priority Mail International
flat-rate box for orders weighing as much as 20 punds (9 kilos), and a
flat-rate Express Mail International envelope at a charge of $22 to Canada
and $25 to other countries. In addition, weight-based Priority Mail
International will now be available for insurance. Air Parcel Mail has also
been discontinued and the service has been folded into Priority Mail
International.

SECOND 2 EURO FROM FINLAND?
It is rumored that the originally planned 2007-dated 2 euro from Finland,
celebrating 90 years of Independence, will not be issued. Instead, there
will be a 5 euro base metal coin and a 100 euro gold coin honoring this
anniversary later this year.

2008 - EUROS IN MALTA AND CYPRUS
Both the European Central Bank and the EU Commission have rated the chances
that Malta and Cyprus will convert to the euro on January 1, 2008 as "with a
high degree of confidence". The July meeting of the EU Ministers of Finance
therefore seems to become a pure formality. The Central Bank of Malta has
already contracted with the Monnaie de Paris for the minting of its euro
coins with the Maltese national sides.

2007 VATICAN COIN SETS
On April 27, the Vatican Numismatic Office released 85,000 BU sets (30 euro
issue price) and 14,000 proof sets (140 euro issue price). The silver medal
in the proof set features St. Mark the Evangelist. As RSM cannot purchase
these sets directly from the Vatican, we will return with prices and
availability once we have sourced the items.

SWEDEN - COIN SETS 2006
The Mint of Sweden has issued its coin set for 2006. There is only one set
issued - the Gift set in the plastic cassette - and no souvenir set of proof
set will be released. Interestingly, the set only contains two coins - the
10-krona and the 50-öre - in addition to a mint medal with a theme from
Lappland. The issue limit is 25,000 sets. The set should be available from
RSM in June.

SWEDEN - CARL VON LINNE
In late May, the Swedish Central Bank will issue two coins with the same
design - one silver and one gold - honoring the 300th anniversary of the
birth of Carl von Linné (Carolus Linnaeus). Linné was a Swedish botanist,
physician and zoologist who laid the foundations for the modern scheme of
nomenclature.

2007 EUROSTAR PROGRAM
This is the fourth year for the Europe-wide program with a common theme and
common mintmark, the Eurostar, and for 2007 its theme is European
achievements. For the second time, non-Euro countries like Hungary and
Latvia are participating in the program, and more countries could be added
before year's end, pending approval. So far, only the Austrian coin has been
issued, but more items are expected shortly. Below is a comprehensive list
of all currently known issues in the 2007 Eurostar program:

2007 NEW EU MAP ON COINS
It has now been confirmed by the European Central Bank (ECB) that the common
sides (obverses) for 5 of the 8 euro coins will be updated by most countries
in 2007 to reflect the map with the 10 new EU member states. The countries
making the change in 2007 are Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece,
Ireland, the Netherlands, spain and Monaco. In 2008, Austria, Italy, San
Marino, the Vatican and Portugal will phase in the new common side. It is
not believed that the 1,2 and 5 cent coins will be updated as they do not
show individual countries on its map.

MALTA - LAST LIRA SET NOW AVAILABLE
The expected last Lira coin set from Malta before the introduction of the
euro in 2008 has now been issued and is available from RSM. As last year,
the set comes with a certificate to secure the right to purchase 1 pcs. of
the first Euro Coinset, which is planned for 2008. RSM will send out an
e-mail for the collection of these coupons once the system for delivery has
been fixed by the Central Bank of Malta.

SLOVENIA - FIRST EURO COIN SETS
The first new euro coins since 2002 have been issued! Slovenia joined the
eurozone on Jnuary 1 and its first euro BU mint set is now available to
purchase ($34.50). The euros were manufactured by the Mint of Finland, and
the set has an issue limit of 100,000. RSM has less than 50 sets left of its
allottment, still offered at the original issue price. There is also a
starter kit available.
