2003-2005 NORWEGIAN COMMEMORATIVE COIN PICS ON WEB SITE
The complete range of six Norwegian coins commemorating the dissolution of the union with Sweden is now available to view by following this link. While on the page, click on the appropriate year to see the coins. Prices have not yet been fixed as the first coins do not become available until November 27.

CIRCULATING COMMEMORATIVE EUR 2 COINS FROM 2004
The EU Commission has approved a bill allowing the national side of the 2 euro circulating coin to commemorate specific events starting in 2004. Each country is allowed one commemorative design per year, but the specifications of the coin and the common side has to be identical to the regular circulating version of the coin. The coin will still be legal tender in all 12 euro countries.

EURO MINTAGE LIMITS
Did you know that most of the 2003-dated Euro coin sets contain coins that are not minted for general circulation, but that have been minted for the annual coin sets only? The reason behind this curiosity is that most Euro countries minted sufficient quantities of coins in 1999-2002 to last for a number of years, and government demand for the coinage has decreased a little compared to earlier projections. The countries that have disclosed that they have minted coins for sets only in 2003 are: Austria (1c, 10c, EUR1), Belgium (1c, 2c, 10c, 50c, EUR1), France (20c, 50c, EUR1, EUR2) and Germany (1c, 5c, 50c, EUR 1 - differences between the 5 mint sets). Spain has produced only 4 million each of the 2c, 5c, 20c and 50c coins.

SWEDEN VOTES NO TO JOIN EURO
On September 14, Sweden voted no the adopting the Euro by 56% to 41% in a national referendum which is predicted to keep the Krona at least until 2013. 41% of eligible voters said yes, and 3% voted blank. The voting participation was 81%.

2004 FIFA COIN PROGRAM
We are proud to announce that Royal Scandinavian Mint has been appointed official North American representative for the upcoming 2004 FIFA Centennial Coin Program (FIFA is the International Soccer Federation). The program will consist of 4 silver coins and 4 gold coins, one each from France, Switzerland, Brazil and Uruguay - countries that have played an important role in the success and development of soccer into the world's largest, most widespread and popular sport over the last 100 years. The coins will be available only in silver sets, gold sets and prestige sets (silver and gold together), and will not be sold individually. The program will be launched in January 2004 and is limited to 15,000 silver sets, 2,500 gold sets and 1,000 prestige sets worldwide. RSM will only receive a small allotment of sets, so it is important that you sign up early to ensure your personal copies. If you are interested in these items, please send us an e-mail and we will put you on the reserve list, without any immediate obligation to purchase. As soon as the pricing for these items is finalized we will offer the items first to the reserve list, and then to the entire list of customers according to availability.

GERMAN SILVER PROOF COIN SET
Please be advised that there will be a German 6-coin set issued in December, consisting of all the EUR10 proof coins issued this year presented in a blister package. The items listed in this e-mail announcement are the single items packaged in individual plastic capsules. If you want to pre-order a 6-coin set, please send us an e-mail to office@scandmint.com. Further information regarding previous and upcoming Euro issues is available at www.scandmint.com.

2003 NORWAY SILVER AND GOLD PROOF COINS
November 27 sees the release of the first pair of Norwegian coins commemorating the 100th anniversary of the dissolution of the union with Sweden in 1905. The program consists of a total of six coins, released as one silver coin and one gold coin per year until June 7, 2005. The gold coins will have a diameter of 27 mm and an issue limit of 10,000 pcs. per coin, and the silver coins will measure 39 mm and carry a mintage limit of 65,000 per coin. Please contact us if you would like to pre-order the 2003 issues at this time, even though the US$ prices will not be fixed until October/November. The Norwegian prices are NOK 3,500 for the gold coin (currently $496.50) and NOK 450 for the silver coin (currently $63.80), but these US$ prices are indications only and will change as the NOK/USD currency conversion rate changes before the time of issue (hopefully significantly!). Foreign markets will only see sales of single issues, but 5,000 complete sets packaged in a wooden box will be issued in Norway. The problem is that this set must be pre-paid in September, 2003, for all 6 coins, and by choosing this option you effectively fix the exchange rate for the entire program in September. The Norwegian price for this complete set is NOK 11,975 (currently US$1,698.50). If you are seriously interested in this option, RSM has secured 20 complete sets that can be reserved by return e-mail. The coins will be delivered capsuled in pairs of two from November 2003 until June 2005.
